File of Life Card

The File of Life card, which is kept in a red plastic pocket labeled FILE OF LIFE, lists your name, emergency medical contacts, medical history, medications, allergies, religion, doctor's name and a health care proxy. The entire pocket is held, with a magnet to the front or side of your refrigerator or in the closest kitchen drawer. The File of Life also contains a small sticker, which can be placed on the back of your front door. This alerts medical personnel that your household has a File of Life.

The File of Life card enables first responders, paramedics, police officers and hospital doctors to obtain a quick medical history when you are unable to offer one. The card also reduces the risk that you may forget to mention something important. As a result, life-saving treatments can begin quicker and be more effective. The File of Life card is not just for elderly or those with a medical history – many in our community are completing a File of Life for all family members, including children that might be left with a babysitter or neighbor that may not have knowledge of that person’s medical condition. The File ofLife is quick, easy, and saves lives.

Arcola Volunteer Fire & Rescue is proud to be able to provide the File of Life to our communitycompletely free of charge. Your generous donations help us directly support our mission of providingfire and emergency medical services. We appreciate your continued support.
