The Arcola Volunteer Fire Department is selling two vehicles.

Our 2006 Ford Explorer (former EMS 9) and 2006 Ford box truck (former Support 9) will be sold by sealed bid at our Board of Directors meeting to be held via Zoom on Monday, January 24th, 2022, at 7:30pm.

The vehicles are sold as is. Arcola VFD will remove all graphics identifying the company, but removal of additional graphics and emergency equipment will be the responsibility of the purchaser.

The winning bidder must make payment, via cash orĀ  cashier’s check, and remove vehicle from the Arcola VFD annex within 10 days.

Bid opening and selection will be the first item of business at the January Board of Directors meeting. All bids must be received by the treasurer prior to the beginning of the meeting in order to be considered.

2006 Ford Explorer XLT, 4×4 with V8 engine

  • Approximately 45,6** miles
  • Truck removed from service due to electrical issues with emergency equipment. Issues appear to have been resolved by disconnecting the emergency equipment master switch.
  • January 2022 Virginia Inspection sticker.
  • Note that since vehicle has set mostly unused for 12 months it will need to be driven approximately 50-100 miles before getting a VA emissions inspection.

  • Update 1/21/2022: The vehicle’s bright headlights do not currently work when the emergency master switch is disconnected. The original vehicle outfitter – FastLane Emergency Vehicles – explained that the fix for this is a simple process that they could either handle or walk a competent mechanic through over the phone. Please bid with this in mind.

  • 7kw Cummins Onan generator, wired to outlets inside and outside of truck

  • Exterior scene lighting on both sides and rear
  • Approximately 11,7** miles
  • Truck was in working order when removed from service in October 2021 with the only known issue being one LED module in the front light bar
