Boys from Community Donate their Lemonade Stand Proceeds
On a recent Friday night, two school-aged boys stopped by the Brambleton Safety Center with their mom to hand-carry some money as a donation to the Arcola Volunteer Fire Department. A member of the volunteer ambulance crew met them at the door to greet them. After presenting a sealed envelope, which “thanked the Fire Department for their service to the community,” they explained the money was raised by the two young men by selling lemonade in the recent hot weather. As a thank you to these two for raising donation money, the ambulance crew gave them a quick tour of the apparatus floor. After thanking them again, the family went on their way.
At the following Board of Directors Meeting, it was disclosed that the two boys donated $100.00! The Arcola Volunteer Fire Department thanks this family once again for the much-appreciated donation and commends these young men for their fine example of community service!
