RIP Jay J. Brown, Arcola VFD President
With utmost sorrow, we are to announce the sad passing of our friend and president, Jay J. Brown this morning at Inova Loudoun Hospital.
JJ, as he is fondly addressed by the Arcola VFD family, is the current President (since JAN 2016) of the Arcola Volunteer Fire Department and the former Deputy Chief of EMS Training for LCFR.
In addition to the countless hours he has put in helping keep our station running, Mr. Brown had many impressive accomplishments in Fire-Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Management, and Program Management during his career that spanned over 45 years. He received two Virginia Governors Awards for transportation safety programs and named the Outstanding Emergency Medical Services Administrator for Northern Virginia in 2006.
His extensive experience with both fire and EMS, his connections with so many people in the industry locally and outside Loudoun, and his tireless work ethic even in a volunteer status, made him uniquely qualified to run our Department. He will be sorely missed, and cannot be replaced.
Please keep JJ’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
